He will go on to say the group must leave for Sky Haven Temple, a Blades headquarters built up around an ancient Akaviri military camp in the Reach. Delphine will lead you to the secret cellar, where Esbern announces that his intention is to find an ancient Blades prophecy. After a brief reunion between the two former Blades, Delphine will wish to speak to the two of you in private. Upon arriving at the inn, you will be greeted by Delphine, who is surprised to see Esbern alive. Once outside, travel back to Riverwood and into the Sleeping Giant Inn. The Esbern dialogue option "Do you know the way out of here?" will cause Esbern to lead the way through the Ratway rather than follow you (however, this can be glitched). Make your way out of the Ratway by backtracking the way you came in, avoiding or defeating the Thalmor agents and various underworld criminals you may encounter along the way.

You are that Dragonborn your task is to investigate why the dragons are returning, and discover a way to defeat them.

Once you pull the chain, the fire will be deactivated, allowing Esbern and Delphine to walk on the platform unharmed. To avoid the fire, walk along the platforms with Dragonborn symbols only, until you reach the chain on the other side. You’ll come to a room with numerous platforms on the floor, each one with a symbol that you found on the pillars previously.
This should be achieved by moving the first and second (from left to right) pillars just once each, but if you have a different configuration you’ll notice the Dragonborn symbol easily by the arrow at the bottom of it.Īfter lowering the bridge, the next puzzle is a continuation of the first. To lower the bridge, all you need to do is make sure that all three of the stone pillars reflect the symbol for the Dragonborn. Your companions will hint that you need to do something with the pillars to lower the bridge, with Esbern in particular noting the meaning of the symbols on each pillar. After taking out the Forsworn, you’ll eventually reach a raised bridge with some stone pillars to your right. You’ll find more Forsworn enemies in here, but not so many as outside and thankfully no ice mages.
